Practical Applications of NMR in Industry Conference (PANIC) was initiated to provide an interactive forum for discussion of the latest developments in the use of NMR for practical applications to real problems faced by scientists in industry and research institutions. The emphasis is the practicality of the solution and “getting the job done”. The forum provides a venue for presentation of practical applications, and workshops for discussion of real-world experiences relevant to current product development needs with an opportunity to share case studies to drive further development of NMR technology. Solution-state, solid-state, time-domain, and zero-field applications are all equally welcome at PANIC. The forum also provides a venue for industrial, regulatory, government, and academic scientists to meet, network, and participate in exchanges of knowledge for mutual education in and advancement of the use of NMR techniques.
In February 2015 more than 200 attendees convened in La Jolla, CA for the 3rd annual Practical Applications of NMR in Industry Conference (PANIC). The latest developments in the use of NMR for practical applications in industry were presented to a highly diverse audience, including experts from regulatory, industrial, government, and academic arenas.
The four day event provided insight into topics such as Solids/Polymers, Complex Mixtures, Food & Agriculture, Petrochemical/Refinery, Benchtop NMR, Unique Applications, qNMR/Quantification, Forensics and more. PANIC 2015 featured a new one-day Workshop on the Validation of NMR experiments. A direct outcome of this workshop was the creation of a Validation Working Group formed by some participants to coordinate efforts in this area.
Attendees had the opportunity to network with peers and industry leaders during networking receptions and breaks, engage in fruitful discussions during the poster sessions, and interact with sponsors and exhibitors.
PANIC 2016 will take place in Houston, TX with Chair Edward Zartler and Co-Chair Gonzalo Hernandez. Session topics will include NMR in Pharmaceutical Discovery and Development, Benchtop NMR, Food NMR, Polymers, Petrochemical/Refinery, qNMR, Solids, Plant Production Problem Solving and Magnetic Resonance in Space/Rocket Science. On behalf of the PANIC Organizing Committee, we invite you to submit a speaker proposal and contribute to this very engaging program!
We look forward to seeing you in Houston for PANIC 2016!
Joe Ray, Chair PANIC 2015
Edward Zartler, Co-Chair PANIC 2015
