Welcome from the 2020 Chairs

Dear Colleagues,

In March 2019 NMR enthusiasts from industry, government, and academia convened on Hilton Head Island, SC for the 7th Annual Practical Applications of NMR in Industry Conference (PANIC).  PANIC 2019 included compelling sessions on NMR applications over a range of topics including National Security, Oil Drilling, Agriculture, and Pharmaceuticals.  The broad diversity of NMR applications highlighted in the talks and posters lead to exciting discussions and cross-fertilization of new ideas.   This coming year we will once again bring NMR practitioners together to network and learn exciting new ways NMR can be applied to solve real-world problems at the 8th Annual PANIC Conference, which will be held at the San Diego Marriott La Jolla, La Jolla, California on October 18 - 22, 2020.  We would love for you to be a part of this important gathering.

THANK YOU: Thank you to our 2020 Superconductor Sponsor -- Bruker.

REOPENED CALL FOR ABSTRACTS:  With PANIC 2020 moving its dates to October, we have reopened the call for abstracts and encourage those who do practical industry-focused NMR problem solving to submit an abstract for consideration for a poster presentation. This reopened call for poster abstracts will close now on Monday, August 17, 2020.

POSTERS:  The poster sessions provide important networking time for all attendees, exhibitors and sponsors.

Please note: all proposals are subject to review and approval by the full Organizing Committee.

USERS’ MEETINGS:  PANIC 2020 will begin with a full day of Users’ Meetings on Sunday, October 18, 2020.  Once again, we will arrange for the Users’ meetings to be sequential on Sunday, so you do not have to choose which ones to attend.  Arrive early and attend ALL the Users’ meetings!

VALIDATION WORKSHOP:  The 5th Annual Validation Workshop will be Thursday, October 22, 2020.  Please refer to the Valid NMR Web Site for more information on this forum and the most up-to-date quarterly newsletter.

TRAVEL GRANTS:  We encourage Post-docs and students to apply for a PANIC 2020 travel grant.  For more information and required documentation, please go here.

FOR MORE INFORMATION:  As our plans for PANIC 2020 unfold, you can find the most updated information right here on our web site including registration information, calls for abstracts and other meeting news.  Stay tuned!

On behalf of the full PANIC Scientific Organizing Committee, we invite YOU to come to PANIC 2020 and be part of our PANIC 2020 program.  We look forward to seeing you in La Jolla, California for PANIC 2020!

Stop by the exhibit booths and poster sessions to find products and services that will help you grow and strengthen your research and operations.  Be sure to make time to attend our evening receptions as they provide an enjoyable way to interact with industry colleagues in a relaxed setting. You will return back to your office with the knowledge, tools and contacts to be more successful in your work.

Year over year, conference attendees have highly benefited from attending the PANIC Conference. Attendees are scientists and managers in industrial, government, and academic laboratories that use NMR to solve a variety of changing and challenging analytical problems on a daily basis.  Attendees also include regulatory professionals who oversee the applications of NMR in the drug and food industries and in environmental assessment; quality control managers looking for powerful methods that can provide unique solutions to their problems; and scientists developing new NMR technologies to address emerging analytical challenges.
